Google has just announced the launch of their Google Analytics App for Android to help webmasters track visitors and their activities on a real time basis on their phones. You too can now customize and view a host of reports on your Android phone.
Google has modified the reports to suit a mobile environment although the data as well as account settings have been kept the same. You can utilize the Real-time feature to view the total number of visitors on your website as well as a list of pages being accessed by different users. You can also view the medium utilized by visitors to arrive at your web page such as organic, referral, direct, etc., to provide an in-depth understanding of your visitors.
You can also customize your Dashboard and its various menus such as Metrics, Sampling Interval, Date Range, etc. In addition, you can set Automatic Alerts to receive notifications of unexpected activities of your visitors depending on their account history. You can view the percentage of deviation as well as date ranges and can also share these details with a mere tap on your phone screen.
Google has specified that currently there is no traditional Help documentation available inside the app. However, you can easily use any browser on your computer or mobile phone to receive help on any topic of your choice about this app.
Google has also announced during the I/O Developer Conference that it will further optimize the Google Analytics App for Android to provide far more details regarding user behavior. These up-gradations will include displaying the Android version of each user, the mobile device name of the user, and the user’s experience at the Google Play Store.
The improved app will also display session times, crash data, patterns and frequency of application usage, as well as in-depth reports on purchase in apps, ad clicks, and a lot more in due time. The biggest advantage for webmasters is that Google has offered this analytical tool for free, which in turn will compel other O/S developers to do the same or at least reduce their rates for similar services.
Google has certainly provided a very useful app for webmasters to track visitor data even when they are on the move. The company has done its bit and you need to do your own to increase footfalls towards your website after monitoring the displayed results on your Android phone.
